HeyMelody app’s early access version has been released by OnePlus on Google Play. The app offers OTA update services for OnePlus Buds and OnePlus Buds Z, and also Oppo Enco W51 and Oppo Enco X earbuds. Unfortunately, the app is only compatible with select OnePlus phones (OnePlus 6 and up). This means that owners of older OnePlus phones or non-OnePlus phones who pick up OnePlus TWS earbuds will miss out on these features.
HeyMelody’s main purpose
The main purpose of the app is to offer OTA, further it lets you view battery levels of the left and right earbuds individually, along with their charging case, after pairing the earbuds. As HeyMelody is in the process of development, it is not available on all compatible devices.
Meanwhile, you can use the OnePlus Buds app to install firmware updates for OnePlus Buds and OnePlus Buds Z, the HeyMelody app offers more support and applies to Oppo earbuds as well. Customers on the OnePlus community forum had first shared that they have seen the app on Google Play.
What is the HeyMelody App Offering?
Apart from that, the app also offers a wide range of compatibility when it comes to the phones it works on. On the other hand, the OnePlus Buds app-only offers to be installed on OnePlus devices that are older versions than OnePlus 6 that cost Rs 34,999, you can use HeyMelody on older OnePlus devices too and along with other Android handsets. OnePlus had unveiled earlier last month that it will be launching an app that will give users with non-OnePlus smartphones and older OnePlus devices control their true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones.
According to reports by XDA, HeyMelody can be downloaded in older OnePlus handsets like the OnePlus 3T, and smartphones like Redmi Note 8 Pro, Xiaomi Mi A3, Realme 7 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy M31s. After downloading the app, you need to select a smartphone to connect from the four devices like Oppo Enco X, Oppo Enco W51, OnePlus Buds, and OnePlus Buds Z.
Procedure for using the HeyMelody app
To link your earphones with the HeyMelody app, you need to switch on Bluetooth on your phone. If you’re using TWS earbuds, you need to put them inside the charging case, on the other hand, if you’re using neckband earbuds you need to individualize the two earbuds. After that, press and hold your device’s linking button, after securing your earbuds are switched on. The earbuds have to be within 15cm of your phone while using the app.
