Google is rolling out for a new feature for its video meeting platform named as Google Meet that allows users to add customized background during a video conference. The feature is currently limited in Meet is web client, and the app for Android and iOS is slated to receive the update soon. With the background changing option users can choose images from Google is own library that includes landscapes, abstract backgrounds, and office spaces. In October 31, user can also upload their custom images during live video calls. Google announced they development in a blog post published.
Features of Google Meet
The company adds that the background changing option is off by default and Google Meet users will need to turn it on manually that helps them to customize their background. To change the background before the Meet video call the users will first have to select a meeting and then select ‘Change Background’ at the bottom right of the screen. In case you want to change the background during the live call then click on the three vertical lines at the bottom right and then select change background. The user can also blur the background in case they do not want to use an image. The intensity of the blurry background on Google Meet is that can also be adjusted. Google says that the custom back grounding feature is works directly within the browser and it does not require an extension or any additional software.
Helpful during this pandemic
The search giant added that customized background option that would work on the Chrome OS and the Chrome browser that is on Windows and Mac desktop devices. The update aims are to be filtered out by the visual distractions, especially at a time when users are heavily using the Meet for work at this COVID 19 pandemic situation this Meet works great. The feature is available to Google Meet is a regular users as well as Google Workspace earlier than G Suite and Enterprise customers. By November 6, the completion of the rollout is expected. Unfortunately, G Suite for Education customers cannot select their own picture during a video call this has been added by the Google. In earlier September, Google had added the cancellation feature on Google Meet to filter out the background noises. However, in G Suite there is currently a limited number of Enterprise for Education customers, and it is unclear if it might be a regular users then it would be well.
