The death of former Miss America was confirmed by the Miss America organization. On Wednesday the news was shared by the organizers of the pageant on Instagram. The news was also confirmed by a family spokesperson, The real reason for her sudden death is still unknown but it is speculated that she lost her life after suffering a fall that damaged her brain.

Cornett was crowned in September 1992 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. She was the first Miss Florida to win the national title and the first AIDS activist. She was born Eva Leanza Cornett, who was a native of Virginia, She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. She was famous for being the first Miss America to work on AIDS awareness support. In doing so, during public appearances, she apparently decided not to wear her crown. This step of hers popularized her to large masses and she was loved by the people for being one of the most humble and kind people who loved her fans and followers and vice versa.
