Lil Wayne facing possible 10 years for federal gun offense, being sentenced for the next ten years

The 38 years old, New Orleans native American rapper, singer, songwriter, record executive entrepreneur, and actor, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr who is well known by the name Lil Wayne, was accused of the criminal possession of a firearm and ammunition on December 23, 2019. The actor was charged by the Southern District of Miami and now can face up to 10 years of prison if he is convicted of the gun position charges. The authorities discovered a gold plated .45 caliber Glock handgun with a pearl grip pistol, ammunition, marijuana, heroin, painkillers, prescription cough syrup, and $25,938 in cash on Lil Wayne’s private jet, Gulfstream V jet at Opa-Locka Executive Airport. The rapper claimed that the gun was a FATHER’s Day gift.

Why Lil Wayne was restricted from using any firearms?

“The charge is because he was convicted of a felony in the past thus he is prohibited from possessing a firearm and the rapper did not use his firearms at the time of the incident. The charges against Lil Wayne is because of his prior history. There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person.” Lil Wayne’s lawyer, Howard Srebnick wrote to CNN. “There Is no allegation that she ever fired it, brandished it, used or threatened to use it” added Wayne’s Attorney. The rapper was arrested back in 2007 for smoking marijuana near the tour bus in Manhattan. During the arrest, the rapper was caught red-handed with a .40 caliber pistol. He was accused of possessing weapons and marijuana by Georgia Authorities.

Is this the first time the rapper goes to prison?

Lil Wayne was also accused of a couple of incidents in 2008 and 2009. He was also sentenced for 8 months of one year jail in Rikers Island on weapon charges. Before The election, the rapper recently met President Trump in Florida and received some backlash from fans. However, Wayne is not in custody and has not been arrested. The Rapper is condemned to appear in federal court of Miami on December 11. Lil Wayne could face up to 10 years of prison time if convicted.
