Gionee seems to be having a massive strategy as they plan to release a new phone, shortly after they released the Gionee S12 Lite. The Gionee S12 Lite, which is a budget smartphone, is prepared to release in Nigeria. It will be available from 5th October 2020. However, a user on Twitter (@smartvenkat95) spotted another Gionee smartphone on Google Play Console. According to the specifications mentioned, this phone will be much cheaper than the S12 Lite.

As per the specifications mentions on Google Play Console, the smartphone will have:

  • 1.6GH UNISOC SC9863A octa-core processor
  • 550 MHz PowerVR GE8322 GPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • HD+ (720 x 1560 pixels) with a dew-drop notch
  • A pixel density of 320
  • Android 10 

Gionee has not spoken about this product yet. More information may be revealed when the company makes an official announcement. 

About Gionee S12 Lite

The Gionee S12 Lite has similar specifications to that of the Gionee F11VE. It is all set to release in Nigeria in three days. However, as the company has already announced it, the users are aware of some additional features that it has. They are:

  • 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage
  • 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage
  • 13-megapixel camera
  • 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera
  • 2-megapixel depth camera
  • 8-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 4000mAh Battery
  • Colors: Blue and Gray

Gionee did not reveal the price of this device.

About Gionee

Gionee is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer. The company is based in Shenzhen, Guandong, and was founded in 2002. It was China’s leading smartphone brand. In 2012, its market share in China was 4.7%. Gionee further expanded its market in countries like India, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Vietnam, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, the Philippines, and Algeria. 

In 2016, Gionee entered the Indian market with the F103 model. They claimed it to be a Made in India product as it was manufactured in a Foxconn plant in Andhra Pradesh. Later, the company was sold to Karbonn Mobiles in September 2018. In November of the same year, the chairman, Liu Lirong, reportedly lost $144 million to gambling in a casino. In the following month, the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court accepted the bankruptcy liquidation application filed by Huaxing Bank against Gionee. However, the company didn’t shut down for good and is still mildly operational.
