NASA is planning to announce something new about the Moon, which has been recently discovered. According, NASA is all set to announce the latest finding from its Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) which is a modified Boeing 747 plane being the world’s largest airborne observatory. Eventually, the space agency planned to organize a teleconference today. In the teleconference, four NASA experts will be going to announce the latest findings.
Exciting discovery about Moon
Under an Artemis program running by NASA, the agency seems working on the plan to send the first woman and after then a man to the lunar surface upcoming in 2024 for the preparation of our next giant leap that is a human exploration of Mars by the 2030s. NASA proposed that the latest findings come from the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) which is a modified 747 that used to fly high in the atmosphere. Flying above up to 99% of the atmosphere’s concealing water vapor, SOFIA is used to detects infrared wavelengths and accordingly can able to detect phenomena that are impossible to see through the visible light. Although discovery is yet to announce, NASA stated that to understand the whole picture of the history of the inner solar system, we have to understand the science of the Moon also.
New discovery From SOFIA
NASA tried to explain SOFIA saying that it is the world’s largest airborne observatory system. SOFIA is a modified 747 that keeps flying high in the upper layer of the atmosphere. According to NASA, SOFIA offers a nearly 9-foot telescope that makes it possible to provide a clear view of the universe and other objects screaming in our solar system.
The detailing committee has Paul Hertz who is the director of the astrophysics division at NASA Headquarters in Washington. Along with him, Jacob Bleacher who is the chief exploration scientist for the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters. Casey Honniball is a postdoctoral fellow at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre and the last member Naseem Rangwala is the project scientist for the SOFIA mission at Ames Research Centre of NASA.
NASA Going to Announce Today
NASA is going to announce the latest discovery about the Moon. As indicated aforementioned, the discovery seems related to water at the south pole of the Moon. It is considered to be an important discovery for astronauts looking for further lunar missions. When it gets announced we will update, till then stay tuned with us.
