AMD goes serious with new Radeon RX 6800 XT, head to head with Nvidia’s RTX 3080

AMD has launched its latest three Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards on 28th October 2020 that took on Nvidia’s latest RTX 3000 Series of GPUs. There is the Radeon RX 6800 XT that comes with a price of $649, going against the RTX 3080; the Radeon RX 6800 comes with a price of $579, that can be compared with the RTX 2080 Ti or RTX 3070; and the Radeon RX 6900 XT that comes with a price of $999, going up against Nvidia’s giant RTX 3090.

All three latest graphics cards are developed on AMD’s new RDNA 2 technology that can be found in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The new Radeon cards support hardware powered with ray tracing for next-gen gaming consoles, and AMD has given their word to go against Nvidia in 4K and 1440p PC gaming.

The latest $649 Radeon RX 6800 XT has targeted Nvidia’s RTX 3080 particularly; over the top performance in 4K and 1440p gaming that is similar or even overtakes Nvidia’s new graphics card that comes with a discount of $50. It is attributed with 16GB of GDDR6 memory, a 2015 MHz base clock, 2250 MHz boost clock, 20.74 teraflops of GPU performance, and 72 compute units overall.
AMD has unveiled a few early benchmarks that display the Radeon RX 6800 XT topping the RTX 3080 at 4K in Battlefield V, Borderlands 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Forza Horizon 4, and more. It is similar to the RTX 3080 in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Gears 5, and Doom Eternal. If these results match across a huge number of games, then the Radeon RX 6800 XT seems promising for 4K gaming performance.

Next is the Radeon RX 6800 which comes with a price tag of $579 that is targeting the Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Ti. As per AMD, it is giving head to head competition to Nvidia’s older graphics card that is only used in a certain number of games. It has 60 compute units, an 1815 MHz base clock, 2105 MHz boost clock, 16.17 teraflops of GPU performance, and 16GB of GDDR6 memory.
The fascinating fact is the base 6800 uses 250 watts of power, only 10 watts less than Nvidia’s own RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition.

Lastly, the RX 6900 XT comes with a price tag of $999 that is aiming for Nvidia’s RTX 3090. Meanwhile, Nvidia has developed the RTX 3090 for 8K gaming, it has a large 24GB of memory that could be used by the creative industry. AMD has not decided to improvise the memory like the others, keeping the RX 6900 XT at 16GB of GDDR6 memory and giving a competitive price.
